Microsoft 365 roadmap roundup – 7th February 2022

  • SharePoint: Automatically build visualization of library metadata with Power BI – Enables customers to visualize the metadata in a document library in a Power BI report. They can also save that report so that future visitors to the document library can view it. Roadmap ID:88706
  • SharePoint Syntex: Import sample contracts library – This feature enables customers to import a sample contracts library with a document understanding model already applied.  They can use this library as is or explore and adapt it for their scenario. Roadmap ID:88707
  • SharePoint Syntex: Flow template to send customized email after file classification – Flow template to send customized email when file is classified by a Syntex model. Roadmap ID:88709
  • SharePoint: Rules engine for alerts – We’re also adding a no-code rules engine to drive content alerts.  Based on the rules wizard in Microsoft Lists, alerts use a simple, no-code wizard to send updates when documents are added or deleted, or when someone edits metadata. Roadmap ID:88710
  • SharePoint: Quick chart webpart for doc libraries – Enables customers to create charts in the quick chart webpart leveraging metadata in a SharePoint document library. Roadmap ID:88716
  • SharePoint: SharePoint admin center- Manage Teams and channel connected team sites – With growing adoption of Teams and Channels we heard your feedback to simplify management of Teams and Channel connected sites. So now, when you go to a teams-connected site in SharePoint admin center, you see all corresponding channel sites and can ensure that right optional security policies are inherited from the parent site. Roadmap ID:82161
  • SharePoint: Improvements to the Text Web Part toolbar for SharePoint Pages and News – Authors of SharePoint Pages and News will be able to access all simple text editing tools from the Text toolbar. Roadmap ID:82180
  • OneDrive and Microsoft Stream: Sharing Links that block download for most video and audio files – Users can choose to share most video and audio files with a sharing link that will prevent recipients from being able to download the file. Recipients can still view the file via the web player experiences. Roadmap ID:82193
  • SharePoint: Navigation Switcher – With the new Nav Switcher feature, users can easily customize their team site by changing navigation’s orientation and visibility to achieve different look and feel, layouts, and alignment styles. Roadmap ID:85568
  • SharePoint Syntex: Content type to advanced metadata search – Use content type classification to find files using advanced metadata search. Roadmap ID:88714
  • Microsoft Compliance center: Information Governance: Retention label deletion behavior change in SharePoint – Improved consistency of user experience between OneDrive and SharePoint, allowing users to “delete” files labeled with a retention label configured to “retain items for a specific period” as this operation is no longer blocked with an error message. When deleted, these files will still be preserved for compliance purposes by moving a copy of them to the “Preservation Hold Library” of the site where they can be accessed by eDiscovery and other compliance solutions.   • SharePoint: Video Webparts – Meta data changes to video webparts: Hero & Highlighted content webpart, to increase discoverability for videos amongst other content type. Roadmap ID:68715
  • Microsoft Lists: rules – built on SharePoint – Create simple if/then rules based on changes to list information to set reminders and send notifications. Roadmap ID:64163

🚂 ROLLING OUT

  • SharePoint Syntex: Responsible AI guardrails for Image Tags (editable column and feedback UX) – “Tags” column changes from read only to a new editable “Image Tags” column so that customers can add and remove tags at their discretion.  It also incorporates a way for users to provide feedback on the quality of AI generated tags from within the details pane.   • Microsoft Viva: Supporting four additional languages for Headspace in Viva Insights – French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish – Guided meditations and mindfulness exercises from Headspace in the Viva Insights app in Microsoft Teams will be available in additional languages – French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish – to foster mindfulness and wellbeing throughout the workday.   • SharePoint Syntex: Prebuilt models for invoices and receipts – Analyze and extract structured information from sales invoices or receipts using prebuilt models. Roadmap ID:88703
  • SharePoint Syntex: Provide a document card view for applied Syntex document understanding models – A new library view setting to display extracted model information in a tile view. Roadmap ID:88704
  • SharePoint Syntex: Content center site design available in Look Book – A Syntex content center site design will be available for provisioning from the SharePoint look book online. Roadmap ID:88705
  • SharePoint Syntex: Contract management accelerator – Manage contracts in Syntex with automatic tagging and approval workflows, automatic clause generation and lifecycle management. Roadmap ID:88713
  • SharePoint Syntex: Content assembly – Convert your existing docs into templates and generate new docs from list data or manual entries. Roadmap ID:88717
  • SharePoint Syntex: local document understanding model creation – Allows for the creation of local Syntex models in Team and Communication sites.  Roadmap ID:88519

  • OneDrive and SharePoint for Business: Library Dropdown – We’re adding a dropdown that allows you to easily switch between multiple document libraries associated with a Team or Site. Roadmap ID:81990
  • Microsoft Viva: Topic discovery analytics – Transparency through analytics on topic discovery for organizations (Stage 1) to support ROI and understanding of progress of topic discovery. Roadmap ID:88696
  • Microsoft Viva: Enable search to add files or pages in Topic Pages – Editors can pin files or pages to a topic page by searching for it in the resource picker. Roadmap ID:88852

Release – March 2022

  • 🆕 Microsoft Viva: Shared focus plan in Viva Insights – The shared focus plan enables managers and team leads to foster mutual productivity norms and drive a positive team culture by inviting teams to book focus time for uninterrupted work. Roadmap ID:88839
  • SharePoint: Create and manage Power Apps from Microsoft Lists within Microsoft Teams – Build low-code, mobile-friendly apps from Lists directly inside of Teams via a new integration with Power Apps. A published app can be added as a tab in a Teams channel and shared with the rest of your team, while maintaining its connection to the list as a source of data. Roadmap ID:88894

Release – April 2022

  • 🆕 SharePoint: Easily create Power Automate flows from built-in list templates – Lists ready-made templates are getting a boost. You can install Power Automate flows whenever you create a list from select list templates. The following templates will have reminder flows available to use as you create your list: Work progress tracker, Content scheduler, and Recruitment tracker.  Roadmap ID:88906
  • 🆕 OneDrive and SharePoint: Access your Teams standard and private channel files – When you navigate to a site in SharePoint or OneDrive, you’ll be able to access the files stored in the Teams standard and private channels associated with that site.  Roadmap ID:88911
