Deprecation of Power BI Integration within SharePoint Lists/ Libraries
Microsoft have announced the retirement of the Power BI integration within SharePoint lists and libraries. Starting November 11, 2025, users will no longer be able to create new reports using the “Visualize the List” or “Visualize the Library” features. Furthermore, as of December 11, 2025, any previously published reports created through this integration will become permanently unavailable. To ensure continuity in data analysis, Microsoft recommend transitioning to alternative methods such as exporting SharePoint list data directly to Power BI to create semantic models, using autogenerated “quick” reports in the Power BI service, or building advanced reports via Power BI Desktop.

Microsoft Lists Mobile Apps Retirement in November 2025
Microsoft has announced the retirement of the Microsoft Lists mobile apps for Android and iOS, effective November 2025. This move aligns with Microsoft’s strategy to enhance user experience through its web-based platforms. As of September 2025, new users were no longer able to download the apps, and by November, existing users will find the apps non-functional, receiving error messages upon launch. Users are encouraged to transition to the mobile browser experience, which remains fully supported and secure. While the browser version of Microsoft Lists offers robust functionality, some mobile app features—such as QR code scanning and image-based editing—will not be available.

Tenant rename for tenants with up to 500K sites General Availability (GA)
SharePoint Online Tenant Rename is now generally available for tenants with up to 500K sites —an increase from the previous 100,000 site limit. This feature, available worldwide from September 1, 2025, allows organizations undergoing rebranding, mergers, or other changes to update their SharePoint domain name in URLs, ensuring business continuity and compatibility with Microsoft 365 partner scenarios like Teams and PowerApps. Key capabilities include high reliability, enhanced telemetry, and support for large tenants, but there are limitations: vanity domains, Multi-Geo customers, and tenants with more than 500,000 sites are not supported.

Update a SharePoint Embedded user-owned container through SharePoint Admin Center or PowerShell
SharePoint administrators can now directly update the principal owner of user-owned containers through the SharePoint Admin Center (SPAC) or updated SharePoint PowerShell cmdlets. This enhancement, rolling out globally from late September to late October 2025, is designed to support organizational transitions such as user departures or team changes. The feature is available by default in SPAC, but requires admins to update PowerShell to the latest version. Administrators should review containers that may need ownership changes, communicate the update to support teams, and revise internal documentation as needed to maintain continuity and access control.
