Microsoft 365 roadmap roundup – 4th April 2022

  • SharePoint Syntex and SharePoint: Add taxonomy columns from modern library views – Allows users to add taxonomy columns directly to library views in modern SharePoint and Syntex libraries. Roadmap ID:88828
  • SharePoint and OneDrive: New capabilities in Microsoft 365 Information barriers for SharePoint, OneDrive, and M365 Groups – Bringing in new capabilities in Microsoft 365 Information barriers which will further help administrators and end users to ensure they can collaborate and communicate within information barriers policies.   • SharePoint: Migration Manager content discovery – Before you move any file or folder from on-premises into Microsoft 365, you need to discover content and plan for the migration. The Migration Manager, from within the SharePoint admin center, will provide content discovery so admins can best understand what content they have, decide what to migrate and what to remediate.   • Microsoft Viva: Draft support in Topic Pages – With this feature, topic editors and curators can save a page edit as a draft which is a feature parity to SharePoint page authoring. Roadmap ID:85593
  • SharePoint: Microsoft Lists: Visualize with Power BI – Visualize your list in Power BI. This is a new view and author experience that auto-generates an initial report for you based on the information in your list. You can specify fields to create from, or update the visuals shown in the report. If you want more advanced report authoring capabilities, you can move into Edit mode and further refine. To create a report from a list, click the Integrate menu, choose Power BI and then you will see “Visualize the list”. The date for Government clouds can be tracked in roadmap id 93221.   • Microsoft Viva: Productivity and wellbeing insights for managers and leaders – Wellbeing and productivity insights – powered by Workplace Analytics – are coming to Microsoft Teams. Group managers and business leaders will get insights personalized to their role with recommended actions to make changing habits and improving productivity and wellbeing easier. Roadmap ID:68746
  • SharePoint Syntex: local document understanding model creation – Allows for the creation of local Syntex models in Team and Communication sites.  Roadmap ID:88519
  • Microsoft Viva: Topics integration to Outlook Web (Preview) – Display suggested and directly referenced topics from inbound emails in a pulldown pane and attach topics when composing messages using hashtag. Roadmap ID:88693
  • Microsoft Viva: Admin controls for preview features – This feature in the Admin Center delivers a control to let you select specific users to see preview features for customers enrolled in our Early Adopter Program. Roadmap ID:88698

  • SharePoint: Security- Data access governance – Expanding our insights story to help you easily see what matters most in your organization. With our new Data Access Governance insights, you can monitor sharing activity to detect oversharing. You can review and monitor sites based on the type of sharing. You can quickly see essential information about the sites like sensitivity, level of access from unmanaged devices or if the site can be shared externally.   Roadmap ID:82164
  • Microsoft Viva: Topic discovery analytics – Transparency through analytics on topic discovery for organizations (Stage 1) to support ROI and understanding of progress of topic discovery. Roadmap ID:88696
  • SharePoint: Create and manage Power Apps from Microsoft Lists within Microsoft Teams – Build low-code, mobile-friendly apps from Lists directly inside of Teams via a new integration with Power Apps. A published app can be added as a tab in a Teams channel and shared with the rest of your team, while maintaining its connection to the list as a source of data. Roadmap ID:88894
  • Microsoft Viva: Briefing email support for 16 additional languages – The daily Briefing email from Microsoft Viva helps users start their day on track by surfacing information to prepare for upcoming meetings, follow up on outstanding tasks, and protect time for independent work. With this update, the Briefing email will be available in the following additional languages: Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Russian, Norwegian (Bokmal), Korean, Chinese Traditional, Polish, Turkish, Portuguese (Portugal), Thai, Hebrew, Czech, Arabic, and Hungarian.   Roadmap ID:88958
  • Microsoft Viva: Inspiration Library in Microsoft Viva Insights – Inspiration library is a new feature available in preview through the Viva Insights app in Teams. The Inspiration library turns insights into action with access to curated content and best practices from top sources like Harvard Business Review and Thrive. Roadmap ID:93214

  • 🆕 SharePoint: Microsoft Lists unscheduled items pane on calendar view – You can review all the items not yet appearing in the Calendar view due to missing dates. These items will appear on the Unscheduled tab within the events pane to the right of the Calendar view. Roadmap ID:93223
  • 🆕 SharePoint: Automatically build visualization of list data with Power BI – Enables list users to easily visualize their list data in a Power BI report. The initial report is auto generated. Users can also save that report so that future visitors to the list can view the report. Roadmap ID:93221
  • 🆕 Microsoft Viva: Pin external links to Topics – Users will be able to add external links to the “pinned files and pages” section of the topic pages instead of only Microsoft resources. These external links will be viewable and clickable from topic pages, cards, and answers. Roadmap ID:93204
  • SharePoint: Updates to channel site layouts and parent team site settings – Every team in Microsoft Teams is connected to a team site in SharePoint. This is also true for private channels in Teams. Private channels are connected to their own unique team site. This update includes improvements to the private channel site home page layout and the way site settings apply to the parent site and associated channel sites. Roadmap ID:88963
  • SharePoint Syntex: Refinement rules for document understanding extractor models – New refinement option to edit model extracted values before saving to the library column. Roadmap ID:88952
  • SharePoint: Section Templates for SharePoint Pages – When you add a new section to a page, you can select a blank template with popular image and text combinations for a quick start. Roadmap ID:88838
  • SharePoint: Create from the SharePoint app bar – Now you ‘ll be able to start creating sites, files, and lists as an action from within the SharePoint app bar. This means, no matter where you are in SharePoint you can jump right into the content creation process and stay in the flow of work.  Roadmap ID:82160
  • Microsoft Viva: User opt-in as suggested experts – To meet some customer governance and privacy standards, we now allow users to control being displayed as potentially associated with the topic. For these circumstances, you’ll be able to empower users to opt-in to be added to topic pages and cards. Roadmap ID:82103
  • Microsoft Viva: Select sensitivity label to exclude sites from topic discovery – Use Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) sensitivity labels to control which sites should not be included in topic discovery. Roadmap ID:82048

Release – May 2022

  • SharePoint: Microsoft 365 connected templates – We are combining the best of Microsoft Teams templates with SharePoint site templates – into the same flow of creation. When we create a new team using a default template – for example the “Manage a Project” template, the project management channels and apps, and the connected SharePoint template gets applied automatically. Critically, the pages, lists, and Power Platform integrations are pinned as tabs in Teams automatically, and best of all these pages and lists are fully editable right in Teams.  Roadmap ID:82158
  • Microsoft Viva: Automatic topic relationships – AI suggests relationships between topics, and the topic page and card reflects these connections in the knowledge graph (first degree). Roadmap ID:88695
  • Microsoft Viva: Topic Management – Navigation – We’re integrating all stages of topic lifecycles into a unified list with filtering and sorting my lifecycle stage and other data.  Combined with search, this will help you find specific topics when the volume of topics in the system is large.   • Microsoft Viva: Improvements for Topic Management – This update will empower Knowledge Managers, providing additional metadata for sorting and filtering through the list of topics, including additional quality and usage columns, and segmentation to help manage topics at scale. Roadmap ID:72182

  • SharePoint: Scoping Control for SharePoint Online – Scoping control is available for SP page, site, list and library, for users to search faster with specified scope. Roadmap ID:70792
