  • MC1222123 Take Action: Out-of-band update to address cloud‑backed storage application issues – Microsoft has released an urgent out‑of‑band Windows update to fix January 2026 issues causing apps and Outlook to hang when opening or saving files in cloud‑backed storage locations.(24 Jan 2026)
  • MC1221927 Microsoft Defender for Android ending support for enrolled personal profiles – Microsoft Defender for Android will end support for protecting personal profiles on enrolled devices by March 2026, focusing solely on securing corporate work profiles. (23 Jan 2026)
  • MC1221452 Microsoft Entra ID: Auto-enabling passkey profiles – Starting March 2026, Microsoft Entra ID will auto-enable passkey profiles with a new passkeyType property for device-bound and synced passkeys. Tenants not opting in will be migrated automatically, with existing settings preserved. Microsoft-managed registration campaigns will update targeting to passkeys. (23 Jan 2026)
  • MC1221451 New policy to add watermarks to content generated or altered by using AI in Microsoft 365 – Microsoft 365 will offer a policy to add visual or audio watermarks to AI-generated or altered video and audio content, available via Cloud Policy by February 2026. This enhances transparency but does not apply to images, which users can watermark through privacy settings separately. (23 Jan 2026)
  • MC1219791 Microsoft Purview | DLP – Additional diagnostics for Data Loss Prevention and Information Protection – Microsoft Purview is introducing new diagnostics for Data Loss Prevention and Information Protection, providing admins deeper insights into triggered policies for files and emails. Rolling out from January to May 2026, these tools require no action, cause no workflow impact, and are enabled by default. (21 Jan 2026)

This update lets channel owners add apps to a specific private channel, so everyone collaborating there (including invited collaborators from other teams or organizations, subject to admin policy) can work in one place without switching contexts.   • Microsoft Teams: Camera view switching in multi-camera Teams Rooms on Windows – When in a meeting with another Teams Rooms on Windows that has multiple cameras, you can switch camera views in that room via the participant panel on the console, or video tile on a touch board, to optimize your views.   • Microsoft Teams: Line key configuration on Teams Phone devices from Teams Admin Center (TAC) – This feature allows admins to configure line keys for various scenarios on Teams phone devices, including personal and common area phones (CAP).   • Microsoft Teams: Interpreter agent support in Teams rooms on Windows – The Interpreter agent acts as a translator in Microsoft Teams meetings, allowing participants to listen to the meeting in their chosen language with real-time translation so speaking different languages isn’t a barrier to effective understanding and collaboration.   •  Microsoft Teams: Digital signage in Teams Rooms on Android – As with Teams Rooms on Windows, IT Admins can now set up Teams Rooms on Android to show dynamic signage content on the front-of-room display when the device is not in use for meetings or presentation. Configuration is available for tenant-wide and room-specific settings via the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal. The feature supports select third-party digital signage partners like Appspace and XOGO, and is included with Teams Rooms Pro.   • Microsoft Teams: Teams button on certified for Microsoft Teams personal peripheral devices one-click access to voice in Microsoft 365 Copilot within the Teams mobile app (iOS). – Now, you can connect your certified for Microsoft Teams personal Bluetooth device (such as your personal headset or earbuds) and with one press of the Teams button you can launch the Teams mobile app and invoke voice in Microsoft 365 Copilot within Teams. This feature eliminates the hassle of navigating menus on your mobile phone, giving you instant access to your personal AI assistant for quick conversational voice answers. This capability is initially available in iOS. Android and desktop client will be supported in a future release.   • Microsoft Teams: Express voice enrollment in Microsoft Teams – Express voice enrollment makes registering your voice in Teams fast and easy. Your profile enables features like voice isolation, speaker recognition, identification in a meeting room and transcripts, and enhanced meeting recaps and insights from Microsoft 365 Copilot. If you haven’t enrolled, you’ll get an in-product prompt to opt-in and enroll your voice profile simply by speaking in a meeting. Admins can enable or disable this feature for their organization.   • Microsoft Teams: Report a Suspicious Call in Microsoft Teams – Microsoft Teams now includes a capability that lets users flag calls they believe are unusual or suspicious. This feature empowers users to actively contribute to real-time threat detection, enhancing organizational safety.   • Microsoft Purview: Insider Risk Management – Risky AI usage – With this update, Insider Risk Management will help admins identify risky AI usage. We are adding new detections of intentional and unintentional insider risk activity on generative AI apps that can pose a risk to an organization. Activities will include risky prompts containing sensitive info or risky intent and sensitive responses containing sensitive info or is generated from sensitive files or sites.  Coverage will span across Microsoft Copilots and 3P generative AI apps. These detections will also contribute to Adaptive Protection insider risk levels. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements.   • Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): People Skills – Expanded AI inferencing for E3/E5 users  – People Skills is expanding AI powered skill inferencing to include Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 licensed users. Previously, AI powered skill inferencing was available only to Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Viva licensed users. With this update, admins will have the option to turn on AI powered skill inferencing for Microsoft 365 E3 / E5 licensed users directly in the Microsoft 365 admin center. AI powered skill inferencing uses AI to automatically identify and update skills on users’ Microsoft 365 profiles based on their work activity from the Microsoft Graph.   • Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Real-time voice interactions in a podcast in Word – Interact in real time with podcasts created by Copilot in Word. Today, audio summaries help you absorb content on the go, but they’re one-way—listeners can’t clarify or explore without stopping. With this feature, you can ask questions with your voice while listening and get answers instantly, staying in the audio experience and understanding content faster.   • Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Support for refining query filters for Confluence Copilot connectors – This feature enhances and standardizes query filtering across both Confluence Cloud and Confluence On-premises connectors. For Confluence Cloud connector, it introduces simplified options to filter pages by page id, creation date/time and last update date/time, helping improve productivity and reduce human errors.

  •  Microsoft Purview: Inline protection, alerting, and incident management for sensitive data shared over the network through non-Microsoft SASE integrations – Extend Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and Insider Risk Management indicators to the network by integrating with your existing non-Microsoft Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution. This integration enables organizations to intercept and inspect traffic inline at the network layer and enforce actions based on DLP policy conditions. It helps prevent sensitive data from being shared with untrusted cloud applications through browsers, apps, APIs, add-ins, and more – including generative AI platforms, cloud storage, and content-sharing services – while managing alerts and incidents through Purview and Microsoft Defender.   • Microsoft Purview: Insider Risk Management – Enhancements to variant limits and detection groups – Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management variant limit is being increased from 3 to 10 per indicator and an overall limit of 100 across all indicators. Along with this, the number of items in one detection group is being increased from 200 to 500.   •  Microsoft Purview: Data Lifecycle Management-New cmdlet to remove retention from inactive mailboxes – Today, there is not a way to remove retention policies or labels (called a hold in Exchange) from items in inactive mailboxes in bulk. Now we are introducing a PowerShell cmdlet that enables retention policies or labels to be removed in bulk from these items.   • Microsoft Purview: Inline data security controls (DLP) for file uploads to unmanaged GenAI apps in Edge for Business – Inline protections for file upload protection are directly integrated into for Edge for Business to help prevent data leakage when users upload files to consumer GenAI apps in the browser. In addition to existing text upload controls in Purview collection and DLP policies, Admins can now detect and enforce inline protections on file uploads. Policies can target file-specific conditions such as file size, file type, and sensitive information types, enabling organizations to audit or block activities for users in Edge on Intune-managed Windows devices.   • Microsoft Purview: Insider Risk Management – Risky AI usage – With this update, Insider Risk Management will help admins identify risky AI usage. We are adding new detections of intentional and unintentional insider risk activity on generative AI apps that can pose a risk to an organization. Activities will include risky prompts containing sensitive info or risky intent and sensitive responses containing sensitive info or is generated from sensitive files or sites.  Coverage will span across Microsoft Copilots and 3P generative AI apps. These detections will also contribute to Adaptive Protection insider risk levels.   • Microsoft Purview: Data Loss Prevention- Adaptive Scopes for DLP for SharePoint – Adaptive Scope for SharePoint is a dynamic scoping capability in Microsoft Purview DLP that allows administrators to automatically target DLP policies to the right sites based on attributes such as site URL, site name, or custom site metadata. Unlike static scoping, which requires manually listing sites and maintaining them over time, adaptive scopes continuously evaluate site properties and auto‑include or exclude locations as they evolve. This enables scalable policy deployment, eliminates the 100‑site static policy limit, and delivers granular, and automated targeting.
