  • Microsoft Teams: New Microsoft Teams store now available in GCCH and DOD – Users in GCCH and DOD environment can now experience the newly redesigned Teams store including adding apps for personal use, getting intelligent recommendations – like featured apps, popular apps amongst your colleagues, etc., receiving editorial articles that address common scenarios from apps to get started in Teams to those best for educators, searching apps faster and easier with updated app categories.   •  Microsoft Teams: Domain-specific search – Users will be able to narrow down their search results and find what they are looking for faster. Get more precise search results by picking up a specific domain like files, group chat or Teams and channels.   • Microsoft Teams: New Teams meeting templates added to Outlook Teams add-in – New meeting templates for Virtual Appointment, Webinar, and Town hall are available in the Teams meeting dropdown menu in the Calendar tab in Outlook with the Outlook Teams add-in enabled.   • Microsoft Teams: Walkie Talkie: automatically listen to multiple channels – Walkie Talkie, a push-to-talk experience that enables clear and secure voice communication over the cloud, enables teams to communicate instantly on a channel.   • Microsoft Teams: Teams Phone and Teams Rooms licenses in device store – IT administrators can already browse and purchase Teams certified devices in the device store in Teams Admin Center.   • Microsoft Teams: School Connection for parents in Microsoft Teams (mobile) – The School Connection app in Microsoft Teams mobile empowers parents and guardians to engage, support, and monitor their student’s learning at school. As a parent, you can stay up to date on assignments, grades, insights from the past month on digital activity, and more.   • Microsoft Teams: Control your mic state during meetings from Windows taskbar available in the new Teams on Windows – This feature, available in the new Teams experience on Windows, enables you to mute and unmute your audio by clicking the mic icon in Windows taskbar.   • Microsoft Teams: Collaborative Notes in Channel Meetings – Collaborative Notes will replace Wiki-based Channel Meeting Notes. Collaborative Notes in channel meetings allow attendees to co-create and collaborate on their meeting agenda, notes, and action items. Since Collaborative Notes are a Loop component, it is always in sync regardless of how many places they live in.   • Microsoft Teams: Improved View switcher and Front of Room display controls for Teams Rooms on Android – The updated interface for the Teams Rooms on Android View Switcher menu provides end users with more control of the front of room display(s) during a meeting and enables customizations including visibility of the meeting chat and which meeting component is displayed on the left and right panel for Front Row.   • Microsoft Teams: Integrate Chat notification with Meeting RSVP status – Microsoft Teams users will be able to control how they get notified in meeting chats through RSVP to their meetings. When you decline a meeting, you will not receive notifications or see the chats in chat list; when you accept a meeting, you will receive notification for all new messages.   • Microsoft Teams: New calendar views on Teams Rooms on Android – The calendar on Teams Rooms on Android gets a new look and expanded functionalities. Users can view the calendar for the current and next day. Any available 11 minute or more time slots are shown. A visual indicator (green/purple vertical bar) is added to each time slot for users to easily see whether a room is booked or available.   • Microsoft Teams: Teams Connect chat enhancements – IT admins will be able to add external partners with phone-based Teams accounts not managed by an organization to their organization’s extended directory. These external users can have a company curated user profile including location and job role.   • Microsoft Teams: Frosted Glass Backgrounds in Teams Meetings – Frosted Glass is a type of background effect that helps users keep their privacy with a background blur, but in a more professional and creative way. It let users have graphics with a blur effect together. Frosted Glass can be activated with a PNG image, that usually comes with some graphics in a transparent background. With the new frosted glass effects, the transparent area is turned into a blur background while the graphic remains as the part of background effect. With this update, the model to detect unusual activity will be enhanced to improve the ability to detect when a user’s activity is unusual compared to their historical norms. If an admin has opted-in to the “Activity is above user’s usual activity for that day” risk score booster in settings, the organization might see fewer activities with the risk score booster. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies to manage security and compliance.   • Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Information Protection – Named entity coverage for additional markets and languages – Named entities are sensitive information types (SITs) that can’t easily be identified by a regular expression or a function; these include person names, physical addresses, and medical terms and conditions.   • Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Endpoint Data Loss Prevention – Enhanced file type coverage for DLP on Windows endpoints – With this release, the file type coverage to scan, classify and protect sensitive content on windows endpoint devices with Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention policies will increase from current ~40 file types to 100+ file types. This release will make the coverage of file types on endpoint consistent with other locations such as Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive.   •  🆕 Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Insider Risk Management- Global exclusions – With this update, all exclusion features currently found under intelligent detections will be relocated to a new tab labeled “Global exclusions” within the insider risk settings. All previously added exclusions in intelligent detections will be migrated to this new tab. The functionality of exclusions remains unchanged. Moreover, admins with appropriate permissions can now add exclusion via defined detection groups, which contain similar entities like domains or file types. This new tab is designed to enhance usability and offers a convenient way to access and manage exclusions. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.   • Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Communication Compliance – Detect managerial harassment – By combining Communication Compliance classifiers with Azure Active Directory organizational hierarchy data, we are able to detect if offensive/inappropriate communications are occurring in a hierarchical imbalance.   Timing: Rollout to public preview will begin in the middle of September and end in October.  What you need to do to prepare: No action needed at this time.   Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance provides the tools to help organizations detect regulatory compliance violations (e.g. SEC or FINRA), such as sensitive or confidential information, harassing or threatening language, and sharing of adult content. Built with privacy by design, usernames are pseudonymized by default, role-based access controls are built in, investigators are opted in by an admin, and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.
