  • 🆕 Microsoft Viva: Create up to 50 Viva Connections experiences within a tenant – Customers with Viva suite or Viva Communications and Communities license can create up to 50 distinct Connections experiences for their audience groups.   • 🆕 Microsoft Viva: Admin setting to disable private messages in a Viva Engage (Yammer) network – Admins will have the ability to turn off private message capabilities in their Viva Engage (Yammer) network. Once turned off, users will not see the feature in the frontend.   Once released, this setting is available for admins to use any time. If turning off private messages in existing networks, users will lose access to their messages. All content remains ingested and available via eDiscovery.   • Microsoft Teams: Primary camera switching for Teams Rooms on Android – Allows in room users to switch the main meeting camera if USB cameras are attached to a Microsoft Teams Room on Android. IT admins have the option to select the default primary camera using device settings. This feature is available for all Teams Rooms licenses.   • Microsoft Teams:  Intelligent camera support on Teams Rooms on Windows – IntelliFrame enables multi-stream video, face recognition of in-room participants, active speaker recognition, attributed voice-based transcription, and panoramic video on front-of-room (180-degree view) and center-of-room (360-degree view) cameras, taking Teams Rooms on Windows cameras to the next level of intelligence.   • Microsoft Teams: New ‘notes’ tab when creating a standard channel – When creating a new standard channel, a new Notes tab will be automatically created. Each Teams team will have a dedicated OneNote workbook and each channel will have its own section, making it easier on the workgroup to add their notes. We will not be rolling out to GCC, GCC-High, and DoD at this time and a new Roadmap item will be available for these environments shortly.   • 🆕 Microsoft Teams: Enabling Cloud IntelliFrame for Teams Rooms in the new Microsoft Teams app – Online meeting participants will now be able to experience a meeting with Cloud IntelliFrame in the new Microsoft Teams app. With Cloud IntelliFrame, in-room participants appear similar to remote attendees, creating an immersive and engaging experience for everyone. Whether working from home or in the office, participants can gather more context about the physical shared space and are able to see every facial expression and cue, just as if they were there in person.   • 🆕 Microsoft Teams: Scheduling improvements in Shifts app – In the Shifts app, people count, and full names, will show in the calendar view. The most recent filter settings will be saved automatically.   • Microsoft Teams: Choose which users to notify when publishing a task list – The task publishing experience in Microsoft Teams will soon allow you to choose which users to notify when you publish or unpublish a task list. In response to customer requests, you’ll soon have the ability to choose which members of teams receiving the tasks should get a notification in their Teams activity feed: all owners and members, owners only, or no one.   • Microsoft Teams: An improved search experience in chat and channels – A new search experience will allow users to search in a specific chat or channel and reach relevant results faster. The results will appear in the right handrail so you can stay in the flow of your work. Enhancements like highlighted key words will make it easier for user to scan their results.   • 🆕 Microsoft Teams: Enabling People Recognition in a Teams Meeting with a desktop client face enrollment process – Users will be able to enroll their face and create a face profile using the new enrollment process in the Teams desktop client.   • 🆕 Microsoft Teams: Front Row gallery improvements on Teams Rooms on Windows: Active video speaker promotion – Front Row now promotes pinned or spotlighted participants to the center stage when there is no shared content in the single and dual display mode. For single display mode, when no one is pinned, spotlighted or sharing content, the most recent active speaker video will be promoted to the center. In dual display mode, when no one is pinned, spotlighted or sharing content, the two most recent active speaker videos will be promoted to the center on each screen. If someone is sharing content, the most recent active video speaker will be promoted on the right screen.   • 🆕 Microsoft Teams: Management of BYOD (Bring your own device) meeting spaces with Teams Rooms Pro Management – The BYOD (bring your own device) rooms in the Pro Management Portal provides IT admins with a comprehensive overview of their BYOD rooms’ utilization and activities.   • 🆕 Microsoft Teams: Teams Panels recognized and visible in Teams Rooms Pro Management – Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro Management will now support Teams Panels. Teams Panels will appear under Inventory and Rooms. If a Panel is sharing a resource account with a Teams Room or Surface Hub, the Panel will appear in the Inventory list for the room. The Admin capabilities for panels include viewing the health status, app version, firmware version, and serial number of the device. Admins can also record an issue, remotely restart, apply config profiles, create groups, and add rooms with Teams panels.   • 🆕 Microsoft Teams: New Shortcuts for Calls in Teams – We are changing the keyboard shortcuts used to initiate calls in Teams to create differentiation from other commonly used shortcuts and reduce accidental calls. The new shortcuts for Windows will be: Alt + Shift + A to initiate audio calls, Alt + Shift + V for video calls.   • 🆕 Microsoft Teams: One Time Passcode (OTP) for simplified setup of Teams Rooms on Windows – This feature introduces a new and simplified way to setup Teams Room on Windows. During the first boot experience, the user will be presented with an option to enter an OTP to  automatically fetch the resource account credentials and sign into Teams Rooms. The users will need a pro license to utilize this feature and provision the OTPs on the Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal.   • 🆕 Microsoft Teams: Privacy and CSV import enhancements in Shifts app – In the Shifts app, frontline managers will be able to specify how far in the past their employees can access schedule data. They will also be able to determine whether employees can view each other’s breaks and notes.   • Microsoft Teams: Watermark support for recording playback (Premium) – Recording can now be enabled for watermarked meetings. An email ID will be displayed as the watermark during the meeting recording playback.   • 🆕 Microsoft Teams: Improved View switcher and Front of Room display controls for Teams Rooms on Android – The updated interface for the Teams Rooms on Android View Switcher menu provides end users with more control of the front of room display(s) during a meeting and enables customizations including visibility of the meeting chat and which meeting component is displayed on the left and right panel for Front Row.   • 🆕 OneDrive: Performance improvements – This feature will provide faster page load times when using OneDrive for Web or when using the Files app in Teams irrespective of your network speed. You will see faster screen loading, sorting, filtering, file moving, and renaming. This increase in speed is made possible by storing file metadata in the local cache of your device as opposed to requesting it from the cloud service.   • 🆕 OneDrive: Files On-Demand for Web – The Files On-Demand options of “Always keep on this device” and “Free up space” will soon be made available on OneDrive for Web for your synced files. You will be able to select files and folders to be always available offline on your device directly from within the browser without having to navigate away to File Explore or Finder to perform this action. OneDrive will download these, and they’ll take up space on your computer. You will also be able to “Free up space” by selecting a file or folder that you previously marked as “Always keep on this device”, and they will no longer take up local storage space.   • Microsoft Defender for Office 365: New filter option for messages blocked due to file type block – We are introducing a new filter for the ‘Quarantine Reason’ in the Quarantine page (Email). As part of this release, the SecOps can now apply this filter to display only the emails which are blocked when file extension/type of one or more of the attachments matches those configured in the common attachment filter in the Anti-malware policy.   • Microsoft Purview Information Protection: Sensitivity label required to restrict permissions for labeling-enabled users – Users with sensitivity labels available will no longer be able to restrict permissions without a label in most cases. Entry points to the legacy Set Permissions dialog will redirect to a sensitivity labeling dialog, where users can select an appropriate label to restrict permissions. UX allowing users to remove encryption or permission information without changing the sensitivity label will also be removed. Furthermore, admins can customize a Compliance URL within a DLP rule, ensuring that end users receive valuable guidance through the popup.   • Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Information Protection – Named entity coverage for additional markets and languages – Named entities are sensitive information types (SITs) that can’t easily be identified by a regular expression or a function; these include person names, physical addresses, and medical terms and conditions.   • Outlook: Outlook on the web – Phishing/Junk Reporting popups integrated with Microsoft Defender for Office 365 – The popup content displayed while reporting using phishing/junk actions in Outlook on the web can be controlled by admins using User Reported Settings in security.microsoft.com. Admins will be able to customize text and other aspects of phishing/junk pre and post reporting popups.   • Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Communication Compliance – Detect managerial harassment – By combining Communication Compliance classifiers with Azure Active Directory organizational hierarchy data, we are able to detect if offensive/inappropriate communications are occurring in a hierarchical imbalance.   Timing: Rollout to public preview will begin in the middle of September and end in October.  What you need to do to prepare: No action needed at this time.   Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance provides the tools to help organizations detect regulatory compliance violations (e.g. SEC or FINRA), such as sensitive or confidential information, harassing or threatening language, and sharing of adult content. Built with privacy by design, usernames are pseudonymized by default, role-based access controls are built in, investigators are opted in by an admin, and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements.
