Teams

🍾 LAUNCHED

  • New lobby setting: only the organizer joins the meeting directly – Microsoft are adding “Only me” as an option to the “Who can bypass lobby?” setting. Once enabled, only the organizer will be able to join the meeting directly. Roadmap ID: 64343
  • Improved Teams meeting join launcher experience for GCC customers – Users who click on a Teams meeting join link will now see an optimize and improved join experience. Roadmap ID: 64484
  • Microsoft 365 Compliance center: Remove a Teams message from the Teams chat or channel – Communication Compliance can now remove a message from the Teams chat or channel, so that recipients do not have to see or be offended by the message. Roadmap ID: 66100
  • Microsoft Teams: Avaya Session Border Controllers certified for Direct Routing – Microsoft are excited to add Avaya to the growing list of certified providers. Roadmap ID: 66465

🚂 ROLLING OUT

  • Channel info pane – Selecting the “Channel info” icon in the channel header will display summary information related to that channel. Roadmap ID: 64173
  • Multi-Window Chat – Users will be able to pop out individual Teams chat conversations into a separate window, to help them streamline their workflow and more easily move between ongoing conversations. Roadmap ID: 65602
  • Device tagging functionality – As part of enhanced manageability, we are releasing Device Tagging functionality. It will enable IT admins to group specific set of devices with user generated Tags and perform actions. Roadmap ID: 66922
  • Using Teams background images in non-optimized Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environments – Support for background images will be releasing for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments. Roadmap ID: 66707

⌛ IN DEVELOPMENT

Release – August 2020

  • Live Captions with speaker attribution (EN-US) – Teams already provides live captions as a way to follow along with what is being said in the meeting, Microsoft are also adding speaker attribution so captions will specify who is speaking. Roadmap ID: 65949

Release – later in 2020

  • Windows native notifications in Teams – Users can now chose to deliver Microsoft Teams notifications via Windows 10 native notifications. Roadmap ID: 66742
  • MacOS native notifications in Teams – Users can now chose to deliver Microsoft Teams notifications via macOS native notifications. Roadmap ID: 66743
  • Turn off text previews for chat notifications – Users can get more privacy by changing their settings to turn off message previews in chat notifications. Roadmap ID: 66744
  • Updated meeting creation and expiration policies – We are making changes to how Teams meetings and join links are accessible for meeting organizers who have had their scheduling capabilities revoked. Roadmap ID: 66921
  • OneNote in Teams for DoD – OneNote integration in Teams will be enabled for Department of Defense. Roadmap ID: 66925
  • Suggested replies – Suggested replies in Teams chat uses assistive AI to create short responses based on the context of the previous message. Roadmap ID: 65954
  • New channel files tab for GCC, GCC-High and DoD – Microsoft are rolling out the new channel files tab experience to the government clouds. Roadmap ID: 65350
  • Updates to Teams usage reports in the in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and the Teams Admin Center – Usage reports in the Microsoft 365 Center and Teams Admin Center will be updated to align with one another and ensure they are consistent with how Teams “active user” is already defined in Microsoft’s financial reporting and public disclosures.   • Multiple Number Dialing – Teams now supports dialing additional numbers for a given user. Roadmap ID: 66194
