  • 🆕 SharePoint: Additional support on SPAC to identify different types of Embedded containers and their principal owner – The update enables SharePoint Embedded Administrators (SPE Admins) to identify the different kind of containers (user, tenant, and group) and the principal owner associated with the container.   • 🆕 SharePoint: Modifications in the Embedded container type creation cmdlets in PowerShell – We’re introducing modifications in the container type creation cmdlets. The New-SPOContainerType cmdlet will only create a new container type. We are introducing the Add-SPOContainerTypeBilling cmdlet to add billing profile to the new container type.   • SharePoint: Enterprise Application Insights for SharePoint sites – Enterprise Application Insights is a powerful report which helps SharePoint Administrators to discover all the SharePoint sites that are allowed access by third-party applications registered in your tenant. The report also provides details on the application’s permission and requests count to help admins take further action to strengthen the security of the site.   • SharePoint: Editorial Card web part in SharePoint Pages and News – We are introducing a Web Part called the Editorial Card to enhance page experiences. Rollout starts – February 2025

  • Microsoft Teams: Default enable transcription policy for new tenants – We are updating the default policy for Transcription from “off” to “on” for any new tenant. This change doesn’t mean that every meeting will automatically have transcription enabled, but it will allow users to turn on transcription if needed.   • Microsoft Teams: Separate policies to control transcription for Town halls and Webinars – Town halls and webinars will now have separate policies to allow or disable transcription in instances. Previously, the transcription policies for town halls and webinars automatically inherited the transcription policy set for meetings. This option to implement different policies for town hall and webinars is available for users on all licenses.   • 🆕 Microsoft Teams: Occupancy status on Teams panels – Teams panels can now smartly utilize signals from Teams Rooms devices or occupancy sensors paired with panels to indicate when a room is in use (e.g. LED glow), so you’re not surprised to find an available room is actually occupied.   • Microsoft Teams: Shared tab in channel – The Files tab in channels is now “Shared”. In addition to files that are currently shown from document library, new experience will also show all the files and links shared in the channel conversations.   • Microsoft Teams: Summarize files shared in Teams chat with Copilot – Summarize action on files shared in Teams chat, will allow users to summarize files with one click using Copilot within one-on-one or group chats.   • Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Usage reports – Microsoft Copilot with enterprise data protection – A new product usage report will be added in the Microsoft 365 admin center, providing insights into active usage of Microsoft Copilot with enterprise data protection. The report will include total active users, average daily active users, and active users per platform (e.g. Microsoft 365 App, Edge, Copilot.cloud.microsoft). Usage insights can be viewed as totals and trends for the past 7, 30, 90, or 180-day periods. The report will also show the last activity date per user, anonymized by default.   • 🆕 Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Insider Risk Management – Ability to increase configuration of CPU and GPU device resource utilization limits in Forensic Evidence – Insider Risk Management Administrators will now be able to increase the CPU and GPU device resource utilization limit for all devices uploading Forensic Evidence clips in their organization. Forensic Evidence will now allow up to 31% CPU and GPU device resource utilization, up from the prior maximum limit of 5%. This enhancement reduces interruptions in the recording and uploading of clips. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.   • 🆕 Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Insider Risk Management – New Insider Risk Management reporting capabilities – Insider risk management is introducing one central location for all reports including analytics and user activity reports. Additional reports will also be available that will summarize trends in alerts generated and cases created. Sample reports include alerts generated over time, alerts actioned over time, alerts and cases generated by region and department, top triggering events of alerts generated, and average time to triage alerts and cases. The ability to filter reports will also be introduced. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements.
